First Time on Kickstarter?

What is Kickstarter?

The platform where we launched Runar is called Kickstarter. It’s a place where creators seek funding for their projects, showing them directly to the community. As compensation for helping to fund the project in advance, you will get the game before the retail release, along with plenty of free items. This process is also known as crowdfunding.

Pledges

When you support a project, you make a “pledge” and become a “backer”. Every pledge level comes with particular rewards, plus extra free-of-charge items that come as a “thanks for your support” bonus.

Stretch Goals

Each day of the campaign, we will enrich our project even more. Another name for this is Stretch Goals. Those bonuses are added FOR FREE to every pledge. Those could be extra items like miniatures, cards, or other materials. Most of them will never be available in standard retail stores, and you will find them only on our Online Store (shop.ludusmagnusstudio.com) and/or on specific occasions, like Black Friday and others. These are marked as “LMS Exclusive” items.

The Stretch Goals could be “time” based (each day of the campaign), “economic” (when the campaign reaches a certain level of funding, a stretch goal is unlocked), or “social” (backers have to do some kind of actions on social network, to unlock a stretch goal).

Payment

When you make a Pledge for a Kickstarter project, you are asked for your credit card number by that platform. Before backing a project, you can contact your bank to know if your credit/debit card can be used for international online payments. The payment will be processed after the end of the campaign and only if the project reaches the funding level.

Pledge manager

Some time (usually one or two months) after the campaign ends, we will launch the “Pledge Manager” phase. This is a website that works like a sort of online store and is entirely separate from Kickstarter.

The money you pledged as a Backer is transferred over as credits to the pledge manager. Here you can choose your rewards in detail, choose the language version of your game, purchase any optional add-ons, provide us with your postage address and pay for the shipping fees of your order.

Shipping and delivery

Your copy of Runar will be delivered to you according to the project time schedule. Funding a project on Kickstarter is not a pre-order, nor Kickstarter is not an online store. Please take a look at the dates and schedules on the project’s page during the campaign.

Once you have closed your pledge, do not worry, sit back and relax: once it will be manufactured, the game will be delivered to the address you chose during the Pledge Manager phase.

Campaign Updates

During and after the campaign, Ludus Magnus publishes Campaign Updates. In those posts, we describe the timeline of the project, some parts of the game (or the add-ons), news about the fulfillment phase, etc.

Please consider that only Campaign Updates are “official”, not the comments in the comments section (even if our team reads every comment, and we always evaluate the voice of our community, before taking a final decision).
